Technicians visually inspect railcars before transfer to ensure mechanical soundness. This includes connecting or disconnecting mobile transfer units, inspecting for leaks, weighing railcars, and completing the necessary paperwork. Technicians examine track lists to plan the spotting, separation, loading, and building of railcars for shipment. Technicians operate a trackmobile to safely move railcars within the plant to be offloaded into customer trucks and holding bins. Technicians effectively communicate with rail team members, leadership, and customer contacts.
